Location

Appalachian State University is a comprehensive university that enrolls about 15,000 students during the academic year.  The campus covers a little over 1,300 acres.  It is nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the town of Boone, NC (population about 15,000).  Boone is a small town that attracts tourists from around the country. It has a vibrant main street with many unique shops, galleries, and restaurants.  July is an optimal time to be in the High Country.  Temperatures rarely go above 80F during the day and dip into the 50s at night. Because of the summer weather, the High Country has proven to be a summer destination for those seeking to escape the summer heat since the nineteenth century.
